The number of accommodations registered at hotels and other sites has decreased over the first quarter of 2009, investor.bg reported quoting data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
Accommodation registered by Bulgarians decreased 5.6 percent in comparison to data for the same period of 2008. The overall number of accommodations is 982 000.
The decrease in foreign tourist visits has reached 19 percent. The number of visits by tourists from Ireland, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary has increased. A sharp decrease has been registered for tourists from Estonia, Malta, Belgium, Ireland, Turkey, Spain, Russia and the UK.
The overall business of accommodation sites decreased 2.7 percent in comparison to 2008 levels. Revenue decreased 24.7 percent.
