The number of tourist visits from abroad in Bulgaria increased 6.9 percent in July 2010, National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported.
Tourist visits from Russia, Turkey and Macedonia increased respectively 35.1 percent, 34.7 percent and 34.2 percent in comparison to statistics for July 2009.
Residents of EU countries registered 1.9 percent decrease in visits to Bulgaria. A slight increase was registered only in the visits from Spain, Malta, Romania and Cyprus.
According to NSI data, 59.6 percent of visits of foreign travelers were vacation visits, 27.1 percent were transit visits. Business trips represent 6.6 percent of the total number visits.
Bulgarians registered 31.9 percent decrease in travels abroad in July. Bulgarians reduced their travels to Japan by 63.6 percent, to Slovakia - by 63 percent and to Greece by 60.6 percent.
NSI registered increase solely in visits to Turkey by 9.5 percent and Norway by 20.7 percent.
