Victor Dimchev, senior producer of Travel TV in an interview made by Tourist Media about the Project "This is Bulgaria". This will be the first video catalog, showing tourist sites in Bulgaria, made entirely on HD. The project intends to capture 13 films presenting Bulgaria's natural cultural and historical landmarks.

What stage is the development of the project “ This is Bulgaria” at?
Until this moment we have made 3/4 of the video materials in the project. Roughly we have finished 80% from the work on the project. The rest will take about three more months. It is expected to fulfil the term, announced at the beginning of the project.

How would you describe the project in figures?

20 people work actively on the project. They are organized in two teams that travel constantly around Bulgaria and take pictures of the sites, included in the project. Until this moment we have made 11 terabites, which is very much. We have made pictures of 1000 sites in 60 hours a premium HD product until now. The team of “This is Bulgaria” have passed 100 000 km since the beginning of the work on the project.

How much is the total cost of the project to date?
The entire budget of the project is about one million leva. Much of the funds are already spent and we will need a new subsidy to finish the project.

Where will You distribute the video catalog of Bulgaria?
In the first stage it will be distributed to several international channels. Negotiations with them are still in process. Then the broadcasting DVD will be distributed along with a booklet telling about the project. The third stage of the project that is final will be broadcasting of the films in Bulgaria.

Have you cooperated with international companies?
We don't still cooperate with international companies. Although several foreign companies show interest in our project, we don't still hurry about this. Firstly,  we plan to promote the project on the Bulgarian market and then we will think about its promotion on the international market.

Did you receive funding from Bulgarian private companies?

There are many sponsors and partners who were interested in the beginning of the project "This is Bulgaria". The general sponsor is The Cooperative Commercial Bank, but we also rely on other smaller sponsors such as "Albena" AD, Avtomotor Corporation, Oil AD and many Bulgarian wineries.

Did you receive financial assistance from Bulgarian state institutions after the start of the project?
Some state institutions have just sent us a few letters in which they demonstrate interest in our project. What help us more is the assistance of individual civil servants and officials. For instance, one such is the director of the National History Museum Bozhidar Dimitrov, who has helped us in resolving administrative problems by saving us a lot of nerves and time wasting.
Fortunately, almost all Bulgarian municipalities have helped us in one way or another - with accommodation, analysis of various sites also an access to them. This was one of the most surprising and unexpected things that has happened to the team since the beginning of the project.

Do You expect the project to intensify the interest of foreign tourists in Bulgaria?
This is the main objective of the project - to attract more people into our country. We don't want to advertise tour operators, hotels or municipalities. Another idea of our project is to remind Bulgarians, that we must maintain and keep what we have. There are many sites that are completely unknown and we have included them as objects of national importance in the project.
