Britain, which is a traditionally strong market for the Bulgarian mountain resort Pamporovo reduced its charter flights to Plovdiv Airport for winter season 2009/2010, Pamporovo Ltd board of directors member Roumen Dikanchiev told Pari newspaper.
The financial crisis is the main reason for the flight reduction, Dikanchev said.
Some early bookings are already fact but Pamporovo cannot predict the future of the upcoming winter season. Though British tourists usually book vacations early Pamporovo expects the market to gain speed in October and the beginning of November. Russia, Serbia and Macedonia are on the other hand late markets, Dikanchiev said.
After a tourism fair in Moscow takes place, the Russian market is also expected to gain speed. Pamporovo is expecting to welcome a large number of Russian visitors for the first time this season.
Further improvements are expected in the beginning of 2010, when the visas for Serbian, Macedonian and Montenegrin visitors will probably be withdrawn.
