Treasure hunters destroying Roman bridge in Bulgaria's Smolyan
from 21.08.2009 09:16       Author - Tourist Media
Treasure hunters are destroying an ancient bridge in the Smolyan region village of Borino, radio Focus-Smolyan reported.

The bridge dates back to the Roman period. Its most recent renovation took place under the Ottoman rule. Treasure hunters have been digging its foundations over a long period of time and the bridge is currently in poor condition.

Renovation works started once again in 1982 but were never finalized.

The build was part of an ancient Thracian road that connected the town of Pazardzhik to the Aegean Sea.
