State Agency for Tourism (SAT) is to be closed to the end of August, Deputy Economy Minister responsible for tourism Ivo Marinov said as quoted by pari.bg.
Currently, the Economy Ministry, which will be responsible for tourism from now on, is making changes in Bulgaria’s Tourism Law. SAT will be closed down afterwards.
The state-public tourism consultation commission will cease existing, as well.
Marinov said that a meeting between tourism agencies and the Economy Ministry will take place soon. Participants in the talks will focus on the problems of the sector and the reforms needed to fix those.
A concept for the drafting of a new tourism law will be discussed in September. Priority items to be discussed include the participation of Bulgaria in international tourism fairs and the tourism marketing budget for 2010.
