The tourism sector proposed the creation of special packages for Bulgarian tourists who select local resorts, Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin said after a meeting of the state tourism consultative committee.
Such bonuses could be introduced if the state and institutions provide part of the funding needed. Private companies could also join such initiatives, Focus news agency reported.
State institution need to cover at least 50 percent of the envisioned package discount, head of the State Agency for Tourism (SAT) Anelia Kroushkova said.
The suggestion envisions one free accommodation per each four-day vacation and two night for free at the hotel for every seven.
During the summit, the committee also discussed more funding for marketing in the sphere of tourism. In December, funding was doubled. Additional opportunities will be sought this year, Kalfin said.
