The Spanish economy is heavily dependent on tourism development, yet the sector has been experiencing problems this summer, Bulgarian News Agency reported.
Spanish tourism registered a 6.1 percent decrease in comparison to figures for the previous summer. The number of foreign tourists who visited the country in July reached 6.6 million people.
The financial crisis decreased the number of foreign tourists 10.35 percent over the first seven months of the year.
Only Madrid saw an increase in the number of tourist visits.
Most foreign tourists came from the UK, France and Germany.
