Bulgaria’s capital of Sofia offers good opportunities for tourism, Berlin mayor Klaus Wowereit said.
Wowereit was on official visit in Sofia on July 21 and 22.
According to Wowereit, German tourists who visit regularly the Bulgarian seaside, should use their vacation time in Bulgaria to visit Sofia.
Sofia’s mayor Iordanka Fandakova and Wowereit discussed new German investments in Bulgaria’s capital and cooperation between Berlin and Sofia.
Fandakova and Wowereit attended the inauguration of a Buddy Bear statue in front of the German embassy in Sofia. German ambassador in Bulgaria Matthias Hopfner participated in the ceremony as well.
Buddy Bear is a project launched in Berlin in 2010. A total of 350 bear statues having unique designs have been positioned at public places throughout Berlin. The bears symbolize friendship between Berlin residents and people from other cities and countries.
