Sofia Airport has to pay $38 million to Kuwaiti company Mohammed Abdulmohsim Al-Harafi and Sons, which built the runway on Terminal 2. That was announced by Transport Minister Ivailo Moskovski.
The consortium won arbitration in Paris and Sofia Airport has to pay the indemnity.
The financing for the project was secured with a from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. The company demanded to receive $20 million in compensation for the delayed obtaining of the construction permit and the unforeseen expenses.
Then Transport Ministry refused to give the money because the consortium had not presented the invoices.
