The Russian state agency let other airline companies make tourist flights to Bourgas and Varna, Dnevnik daily reported.
The decision for removing of the two-years monopoly was taken in the beginning of March 2011. It is to operate only during the summer tourist season. Russian and Bulgarian tour operators expect Bulgaria to be among the most competing tourist destinations during the summer. The allowance of competition among the airline companies making tourist flights is to contribute to the successful summer tourist season in Bulgaria.
The Russian state agency has obliged the tour operators to cooperate their flights with the official state airline company since the summer of 2008. Company S7 was dealing with this for the Bulgarian airports.
