Over 20 eco paths have been created in the region of Arda River, radio Focus-Smolyan reported.
Biking alleys have also been marked and are gaining increasing popularity among tourists.
Additional projects envision the creation of tourism paths to the landmarks near the village of Trigrad. Visitors will get the chance to explore Smilyan’s bean museum, as well as the numerous caves in the region.
Rhodope villages have in addition decreased the price of accommodations 10 to 15 percent. This is one of the measures undertaken to keep the number of tourists constant during the crisis.
Though the summer season in the region has not officially started yet, local hotel owners are registering increase in the number of Bulgarian visitors.
