Travel between Russia and EU has to be facilitated as a part of the transition to a visa-free regime, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on September 1 in Krasnoyarsk, Ria Novosti reported.
Russia should adopt a visa-free regime together with its European partners.
Several EU countries reject the idea, mostly because of political reasons.
Visa regime for Russian citizens may cause problems in meeting common EU and Russian goals, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. Russia send to EU a draft agreement concerning the abolition of visa requirements and is now awaiting a "constructive reaction," he added.
In July Russian president Dmitry Medvedev discussed the cancellation of the EU visa policy with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Berlusconi said that in EU has certain resistance to a visa-free regime.
Russia has already signed an agreement for facilitated visa-issuing procedures for students, postgraduates, journalists and others, Putin said.
