from 19.06.2009 09:07       Author - Tourist Media
The prosecution has started examining the work of the national institute for monuments of culture concerning construction works taking part in the old part of the coastal town of Sozopol, BGNES news agency reported.

Nearly 400 construction permits were issued over the past three years in Sozopol, spokesperson of the Bourgas prosecution Kalina Chapkunova said.

Almost 60 percent of all construction sites are located in the vicinities of historic sites. As a result, numerous archaeological monuments and monuments of culture have been destroyed.

Head of the national institute for monuments of culture Georgi Ougrenov said that the institute is not remaining inactive and is putting all effort in the preservation of monuments.
