Pernik municipality will develop tourism packages for short vacations in the town, news.bg reported.
The municipality will try to attract foreign visitors who are staying in Sofia, Pernik mayor Rositsa Ianakieva said.
Pernik can offer cultural, historic and religious tourism opportunities. One of its biggest landmarks is the coal production museum, which is one of a kind on the Balkans.
A program for tourism development has already met municipal approval. Pernik will invest in the tourism landmarks situated on the southern slopes of Vitosha Mountain.
