From 2011 passengers of flights departing from airports in Germany will have to pay fees of up to 45 euro, Deutsche Welle reported.
The fee will depend on flight distance. Passengers will pay eight euro for short -distance flights, mainly in the area of EU. A fee of 25 euro will be owed for longer flights. Long-distance flights will result in fees of 45 euro.
German parliament will now have to adopt the proposed fee introduction.
Transit flight passengers using German airports will be freed from taxation if their stay is less than 12 hours.
The new fee is expected to produce annual revenue of one billion euro. The fee will be enforced on January 1 2011.
