Bulgaria and Greece will sign a bilateral agreement for the opening of Zlarograd-Thermes border checkpoint in mid-December, Bulgarian News Agency reported.
The opening of the checkpoint will aid tourism development in the Zlatograd region, town mayor Miroslav Ianchev said. Greek tourists will find it easier to reach the winter resort of Pamporovo and Bulgarian tourists will reach Greek beaches faster.
Both Bulgarian and Greek customs officers will make use of the single checkpoint. It will be used solely for the needs of tourists and heavy-freight vehicles will be redirected.
