On September 26, the Bulgarian coastal town of Nessebar joined Communities of Nations for Peace organization.
Communities of Nations for Peace president Jean-Francois Penne and Nessebar mayor Nikolai Dimitrov signed the charter.
The organization is a UN structure of municipalities from all parts of the world. Bulgaria has its representatives in the organization since 2007. Communities of Nations for Peace played crucial case in the trial of the Bulgarian medics charged with spreading AIDS infection in Libya.
At the same time, Nessebar announced it will apply to host the 12th World Congress of UNESCO concerning the protection of monuments. The Bulgarian application will be officially announced during a UNESCO summit in Portugal in 2011.
