Momchilova fortress excavation works will begin soon, radio Focus-Smolyan reported.
Archaeologists will be working in this Smolyan area for the third consecutive year. The east and north fortress walls will be explored over a period of 20 days.
Nearly 500 sq m of the fortress have been explored and renovated so far. These are available for tourist viewing.
In 2008, archaeologists exploring the upper fortress part discovered a Thracian sanctuary dating back to the 5th century BC.
