Medallion dedicated to Hera discovered in Bulgaria’s Nicopolis ad Istrum
from 28.07.2009 09:47       Author - Tourist Media
A medallion dedicated to the Greek goddess Hera was discovered near the Bulgarian village of Resen, Darik radio reported. The area is situated closed to the Roman ancient settlement of Nicopolis ad Istrum.

On its head, the medallion features two peacocks with outspread tails. On the tails, the craftsman depicted ancient Greek inscription meaning To My Mistress.

Archeologists have no doubts that the medallion is a cult to Hera. It is not clear if the owner was a Thracian, a Roman or a citizen of an Asia Minor settlement.
