A silly mistake led to conflicts between Latvian government representatives and the tourism sector in the country, Dnevnik daily reported.
The scandal is a result of mistakes in a marketing slogan that was to be used in advertising campaigns. Instead of the slogan Easy to Go, Hard to Leave, Latvian tourism marketing materials feature the writing Easy to Go, Hard to Live.
Because of the mistake 18 000 billboards in Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden and Norway will be removed. This mistake will cost one million euro and according to Latvian hotel owners the government has to pay all additional costs.
Latvia’s government and board of hotel owners and touroperators paid equal amounts for the marketing campaign.
