Marble room honoring the goddess Cybele was found in the ancient town of Nicopolis ad Istrum near Bulgaria’s Veliko Turnovo, Darik Radio reported.
During the excavation works archeologists found smashed marble slabs.
According to archeologists, the ornaments and the large quantity of marble discovered prove that the entire hall was covered in marble.
The pieces have differing coloring. Some of them are white, others are yellow or feature blue veins. Samples will be sent for analysis.
Archaeologists have so far researched only the building where the marble room was found. Excavation works are still ongoing.
