A mega casino might be constructed near Sofia Airport, chairperson of the Bulgarian-Russian investment forum Boian Mihailov told Standart newspaper.
The project is worth 100 to 120 million euro. Casino construction is expected to start in a few months.
Gambling in Russia was forbidden by law starting July 1. Once the ban was introduced, Bulgaria’s casinos experienced higher interest on behalf of Russian tourists.
Bulgaria could attract middle-class players, since wealthier Russians prefer Monte Carlo’s casinos.
Three major Russian companies already showed interest in the project.
