Tourists visiting Italy's Cinque Terre region can no longer use water in plastic bottles at the beaches, Daily Telegraph reported.
Instead, tourists will be encouraged to pay one euro for metal reusable boxes that can be filled with water from specially installed fountains.
Annually, the area of Cinque Terre National Park is visited by three million tourists. People left about two million plastic bottles, which pollute the beaches and the sea. During August tourist left 400 000 plastic bottles near Genoa, where Cinque Terre is located.
The fountains will be installed in the upcoming months. The new fountains will provide several types of water.
