The project for the inclusion of Roupite region in the European environmental network Natura 2000 will be subjected to discussion in the towns of Petrich and Sandanski, Focus news agency reported.
The protected area will be created following European requirements concerning the protection of wild birds.
A number of bans will be enforced in the protected area. These include a ban on the turning of meadows into agricultural plots, the expansion of existing mines, the construction of electricity production facilities and the destruction of cliffs.
All citizens can send letters concerning the suggested bans to the Environment Ministry. Letters will be collected until March 18.
