Shoumen is one of the Bulgarian regions featuring highest game diversity, which makes it suitable for the development of hunting tourism, representative of the Regional Forestry Directorate Tervel Stefanov said.
The habitat is one of the best in Bulgaria for the breeding of red deer, Focus news agency reported.
Hunting tourism in the region can be revived. Revenue from such activities is increasing each year, Stefanov said.
Revenue from hunting tourism in 2008 reached 451 000 euro. Most of the people who benefited from such services were foreign tourists. Revenue from contracts signed with forestry agencies reached 37 322 euro.
