Hungary uses vacation vouchers to stimulate domestic tourism
from 26.08.2010 15:11       Author - Tourist Media
Hungary is relying on the increase of domestic tourism via the use of vacation vouchers, actualno.com reported. These are even expected to counter the effects of the financial crisis.

According to experts, vouchers will produce a turnover of 40 billion Hungarian forints (150 million euro). The amount represents 20 percent increase compared to 2009 figures.

Hungary adopted the idea from France in an attempt to stimulate domestic tourism. Vacation vouchers were used for the first time in 1998.

The vouchers can be used in accommodation spots, restaurants, public transportation vehicles and for the purchase of sports and wellness programs.

All parties involved in the system are benefited. Companies provide their workers with inexpensive vacations, which in turn motivates employees to put more effort in their projects.
