Hotel owners from Spain threaten to sue the British tour operator Thomas Cook, travelweekly.co.uk. reported. The tour operator decided to reduce by 5 percent payments to hotel owners during the months of August and September.
Hotel owners are awaiting the end of the coming week when Thomas Cook is to make payments. If payments are smaller than expected, hotel owners will take the issue to court with the support of Spanish Ministry of Tourism, director of the Spanish Tourist Office Ignacio Vasallo said.
Spanish hotel owners reduced the average prices by 20 percent. In some cases prices were lower than those in Turkey and other competing destinations, Vasallo said.
Apart from Spanish payments, Thomas Cook decided to reduce payments to hotel owners in Greece and Malta.
