A municipal commission will inspect all the houses in the Old Town of Plovdiv, deputy mayor Georgi Shopov said as quoted by Darik Radio.

The Plovdiv municipality is ready to undertake renovation works on its own expenses and will seek through court the funding needed from the private owners. Such measures will be needed if the owners refuse renovating the constructions themselves.

According to preliminary data, nearly 90 buildings in the Old Town need renovations. These are nearly 50 percent of all the constructions.

Nearly 90 percent of the houses in Plovdiv’s Old Town are under private ownership.
