From September 1 2010 the low-cost airline Germanwings will start using Miles & More program for its loyal passengers.
Miles & More members can collect miles with Germanwings flights and use these miles for flying with Lufthansa.
This is the first step in the cooperation between Germanwings and Lufthansa, which starts on September 1. From 2011 passengers of the two airlines will be able to combine miles with Germanwings and Lufthansa.
For a domestic flight, Miles & More members will receive 1000 miles and 1250 miles for a flight to a Germanwings destination in Europe. Since 2009 all members of Miles & More have been able to redeem their miles in Germanwings’s flights.
The frequent loyalty program of Germanwings - Boomerang Club will continue to exist independently of the Miles & More partnership.
In the next phase of the cooperation, starting from the beginning of 2011, interline fares will be available for Lufthansa and Germanwings flights.
This means that travel agencies and Lufthansa sales points will be able to book and sell an outbound or return flight with both airlines in a single transaction and from a single source.
