Archeologists found ceramic pieces in the ancient town of Nicopolis ad Istrum near Bulgaria’s Veliko Turnovo, Darik Radio reported.
According to archeologists, the findings substantiate claims that Gothic tribes inhabited the region.
The ceramics pieces are typical for eastern Germanic tribes and especially for Goths. This finding is the first one that proves previous claims connected to the tribes.
Archaeologists also discovered a coin dating back to the 4th to 5th century. Nicopolis ad Istrum no longer existed during that period and was replaced by Gothic residential buildings.
