The economic crisis is still influencing holiday vacations of Europeans, Ipsos-Europe Assistance “Barometer” survey announced.
3500 Europeans from France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Austria took part in the survey.
Six out of 10 Europeans say that they plan to have at least one vacation during summer 2010. In 2009, 64 percent of all surveyed people said that they will spend their summer vacation abroad, while in 2007 the figure reached 67 percent.
Only 19 percent of the French and 34 percent of the UK residents polled said that will travel abroad a few times in summer 2010.
In 2008 the percentage of French was 23 and in the case of UK residents the figure reached 42 percent.
Europe remains the favorite destination for European tourists in summer 2010. Nearly 48 percent of all questioned Europeans said that will spend their vacation in their home country. Seaside vacations remains most preferable, especially by Italians. UK residents prefer to travel actively while having a vacation and Germans like mountain tourism.
The average vacation budget totals 2083 euro. The budget has increased 17 percent compared to the amount of funds allocated for that aim in 2009.
Available budget is one of the most important factors when European travelers are selecting their vacation destination.
