More than 1300 people have signed a petition for the removal of the lift in the region of Panichishte resort, money.bg reported.
The lift to Rila lakes hut started functioning officially in the beginning of April 2009.
Ecologists said that the facility is illegal due to the lack of environmental evaluation. It might also be harmful for tourists since part of the lift has been constructed over an active landslide.
The petition will be presented together with a letter to the Prime Minister and the European Parliament.
