The European Union has to find a joint solution for tourist visas in order to develop its tourism potential. Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traicho Traikov said. The minister participated in the European Tourism Forum in Malta which took place from November 18 to 19.
Traikov cited data from the EU 2020 Strategy saying that in the next 10 years 47 percent of all tourists in Europe will come from Asia.
The EU counties should unify in promotion of Europe as a tourism brand, Traikov said.
Bulgaria has numerous summer and winter resorts but the opportunities of alternative tourism are still unused, the minister said.
The countries in EU have to cooperate in order to develop tourism, European Commission Vice President Antonio Tajani said. This does not mean equalization of the tourism destination, but cooperation and creation of new and competitive tourism product.
