Crocodile causes panic on French beaches
from 23.08.2010 15:00       Author - Tourist Media
Several beaches in northern France were closed after the reported spotting of a crocodile in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, ITAR-TASS reported as quoted by Bulgarian News Agency.

Two French reported to local police office, that they saw a crocodile. Initially police representatives refused believing the claim. Yet, more complaints were received and French authorities decided to close some local beaches.

Warnings in English and French concerning dangers associated to beach visit were provided.

A Coastal guard near the UK city of Dover commented, that killer whales or whale sharks have appeared in the waters of the English Channel but a crocodile has never been spotted.

According to experts the water temperature in Nord-Pas-de-Calais is unsuitable for crocodiles, which thrive in warmer waters.
