The association of Bulgarian coastal municipalities will send a letter demanding changes to regional development regulations to the Parliament and Cabinet, burgas24.bg reported.
The letter will propose the creation of a coastal tourism region including Varna, Bourgas and Dobrich.
Mayors of Bourgas and Nessebar came up with the idea. The aim of the union is to give municipalities the chance to work together on problems hindering the development of tourism and construction.
Upon the creation of the region, the three municipalities will be able to apply together for European funding.
The idea cannot be executed in the coming years, executive manager of reforms in regional governance foundation Zdravko Sechkov said as quoted by Standart daily. Changes to the regional development law were approved recently and some time needs to pass before new ones are made.
