A full ban on smoking in public places will affect negatively the tourism sector, Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (BHRA) representative Sonia Alexieva said as quoted by Focus news agency.
Bulgarian tourism expects negative growth of 30 to 40 percent because of the international financial crisis. A further decrease of 30 percent might be expected once the ban is introduced, Alexieva said.
A big number of small hotels will experience major problems and might even go bankrupt because of the ban.
Participants in a press conference on the topic said that the complete ban will not limit the number of smokers and will not decrease harmful emissions.
