from 17.11.2008 12:18       Author - Tourist Media
The town of Sliven will be forced to import Griffon Vultures for France, Standart daily reported. The type of birds used to be widespread in the Sliven part of Stara Planina but is now extinct.

To deal with the issue, the region has to import birds. The initiative is part of a tourism stimulation project and will encourage bird watching in Sinite Kamuni park.

Sinite Kamuni launched the project in cooperation with Green Balkans eco organization. Some of the birds will be freed in the Sliven region, while the others will be taken to Kotel.

Griffon Vulture is a species that acts as a natural barrier against infections, since the birds feed on carcasses.
