UNESCO will not consider removing Bulgaria’s seaside town Nessebar from its World Heritage List. Nessebar mayor Nikolai Dimitrov made the announcement, quoting UNESCO's Head Office.
As TM Bulgaria reported, the World Heritage Committee will discuss whether Nessebar has right to be in the World Heritage List. The World Heritage Committee's 34th meeting is taking place in Brasilia from July 26 to August 3.
Nessebar was warned because of illegal construction in the old part of the town and because of the large number of street stands.
According to the mayor, Nessebar is not a negative tourism site example. Dimitrov mentioned Florence as an example of a destination that has street stands, which do not harm its image.
