Hotel owners in the Bulgarian seaside resorts of Golden Sands and St. Konstantin and Elena decided to compensate tourists from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for the funds they spent on Bulgarian visas, Dnevnik daily reported.
Each tourist received a voucher worth 35 euro that can be used in the hotel in accordance to the specific wishes of the visitor.
Tour operators explained that the compensation is a marketing tool that certain hotels decided to introduce. The measure is not something that the entire Bulgarian tourism sector has to embrace, representatives said.
