Members of Parliament (MPs) accepted the repeal of a full smoking ban in closed chambers. The amendment received first reading approval. A full smoking ban remains valid for all public places.
A full smoking ban in the country had to be introduced starting June 1 2010.
According to the amendments that received approval on first reading, restaurants and pubs that have area of up to 100 sq. m will decide on their own whether to have a smoking chamber.
In restaurants and bars having area of more than 100 sq. m., a separate chamber needs to be designed for the needs of smokers. The room has to be well-isolated and lacking access to the no-smoking part of the restaurant.
