Bulgaria has 208 beaches, 70 of them given on concession
from 09.06.2009 09:36       Author - Tourist Media
The beaches in the country for 2009 are 208, Focus news agency reported quoting head of the National lifeguards commission Stoian Andonov.

Of these beaches, 70 have been given on a long-term concession.

The work of lifeguards should be better organized and under the management of municipalities. Tourism taxes enter the municipal budget and such distribution of responsibilities will be only reasonable.

The lack of lifeguards is a serious problem, since most qualified young people are trying to find employment abroad.

Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) head Hristo Grigorov said that concession taxes are too high. This discourages potential investors or leads to lower quality of service.
