Bulgaria’s capital Sofia has the potential to develop conventional, spa and medical, cultural and ecological tourism, Deputy Chairman of Sofia Tourist Council Liubomir Parmakov said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily.
The council will offer to Sofia Municipality the development of brands in these specific tourism sectors.
According to Parmakov, conventional tourism is currently most developed in Sofia. The capital is able to develop spa tourism because of the availability of numerous thermal springs.
Sofia will also have to invest in tourism attractions, since Parmakov believes that their current condition is ‘catastrophic.’
According to Sofia’s new tourism strategy, the city may also turn into a religious tourism center.
