Grown Apart

On January 20 2010 the Bulgarian town of Veliko Turnovo will received the Balkan capital of culture and tourism award, radio Focus-Veliko Turnovo reported.

The International Hotel and Restaurant Association will hand the award in Belgrade.

Veliko Turnovo’s municipal tourism agency aims to turn the town into Bulgaria’s most popular summer tourism destination. Turnovo has sufficient number of attractions and festivals, which can help the town accomplish this goal.

The plan envision a strategy for the development of the Stage of Ages fest. In 2009, the cultural festival enjoyed the visits of 7000 tourists from Bulgaria, Russia, Greece and Romania.
