A total amount of 339 447 tourists visited historical and museum sites in the Bulgarian town of Veliko Turnovo in 2010. The number presents an 8.5 percent decrease in comparison to the tourists’ number in 2009, Monitor daily reported.
Veliko Turnovo registered major decrease in the number of Bulgarian visitors.
Tsarevets Hill is the most visited site in 2010 - over 240 000 tourists explored it. Nearly 90 000 of them were foreigners. Arbanasi village near Veliko Turnovo ranked as the a second most visited place with 63 718 tourists.
On December 31 2010 and on January 1 and 2 2011 the hill was visited by 3008 tourists. In the first days of 2011 nearly 1140 Romanians visited Tsarevets.
