Bulgaria’s winter resort Pamporovo launched ski season 2011/2011 on December 10. Three ski slopes were available for tourists and ski lifts were free of charge for the day of the official opening.
Despite the lack of snow, which is very unusual for Bulgaria during this time of the year, the slopes were covered with artificial snow and many people enjoyed skiing.
Minister of Physical Education and Sports Svilen Neikov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and the majority owner of Pamporovo PLC Tsvetelina Borislavova attended at the official ceremony.
The Minister of Physical Education and Sports wished successful season and congratulated Pamporovo PLC team for the good organization. In February 2012 the winter resort will host European ski cup.
The Deputy Minister announced that in ski season 2011/2012 Bulgarian winter resorts, among which Pamporovo, may expect increasing in the number of tourists from Turkey and Greece.
The ski lift passes will be discounted to 32 leva (16 euro) per day from December 12 to 18. The regular price for a day lift pass for adult is 50 leva (25 euro) and for children 30 leva (15 euro).
