The so-called 'flash sales' carried out through unsolicited e-mail campaigns are the other reason for the increased interest in last minute offers. One of seven recipients of these e-mails answered by buying a travel service or a travel package. The survey indicated that 38 percent of Americans booked complete vacation package and 21 percent booked a cruise.
About 26 percent of the American tourists prefer to take vacations near their area of residence, instead of selecting a remote destinations.
