The prices of airplane tickets decreased 10 percent in 20009, the chairperson of the supervisory committee of Bulgarian Association of Travel Agents (BATA) Irina Naidenova said as quoted as Pari daily.
According to Naidenova, low cost aviation companies, better airline connections and the increased supply caused the price decrease.
Further decrease in ticket prices cannot be expected in 2010, Naidenova said.
In 2009, aviation companies sold 509 000 airplane tickets, a figure which represents a 14 percent decrease on an annual basis.
International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Bulgarian bureau reported that sales totalled 121.560 million euro, which is 26.7 percent decrease, compared to 2008 figures.
