Nature parks in Bulgaria will research options for outsourcing some activities to private companies, dnevnik.bg reported.
Parks will not be given on concessions or through public-private partnerships, manager of Vitosha national park Toma Belev said.
Guest houses in the village of Brushlian are an example of a successful partnership between the state and private companies. Investors have also demonstrated interest in the construction of guest houses in the region of Gabrovo.
Hunting is another option for cooperation but the execution of such projects depends on the decision of the state forestry agency. It is still unclear how national parks will generate revenue through such activities.
Investors have the biggest interest in expanding skiing zones. Vitosha and Bulgarka parks have already received parks but management of the two and eco organizations oppose such plans.
The project is still in its early phases. Research concerning public-private partnerships is to be carried out soon.
