2010 will be harsher for tourism than 2009
from 13.03.2009 10:59       Author - Tourist Media
The first month of the year is usually the busiest in terms of early bookings. Thomas Cook and other major tourism companies have extended the term for early bookings until April in an attempt to deal with the crisis.

All countries have registered a decrease in bookings. The situation is harshest in Spain and France where the decrease has reached 70 percent. The two countries have introduced measures like mass marketing campaigns and big discounts.

Tourism in Greece has also suffered and the government was forced to undertake anti-crisis measures.

Bookings are expected to increase before the start of the simmer season. Tourists will probably book vacations right before the start of the season when touroperators offer the biggest discounts.
